Your onboarding is losing clients before the first call
Most coaches blame sales for churn. The leak is usually the 72 hours after payment, not the pitch.
I've audited a lot of coaching businesses this year. The pattern is consistent: the sales call goes well, the client pays, and then nothing happens for three days. By the time the welcome email lands, the excitement has cooled.
The fix isn't a fancier welcome video. It's a trigger. The moment payment clears, the client should get one email with three things: what happens next, when it happens, and who to contact if something goes wrong. That's it. No brochure, no five-paragraph bio.
We tested this with a client who runs a group program. Her old sequence had a welcome email, a values document, and a scheduling link spread across four messages over a week. We collapsed it into one email sent immediately. Her no-show rate for the first call dropped from 22% to 9%.
The second leak is the intake form. If it takes longer than six minutes to fill out, people abandon it. Trim to the questions you'll actually use in the first session. You can ask the rest later.
None of this is complicated. It's just easy to skip when you're busy selling. Build the trigger once, and it runs without you.
