The Onboarding Audit Every Coach Should Run This Quarter
Your onboarding is probably leaking clients before they even start. Here's a simple audit to find and fix the gaps.
Most coaches lose momentum before the first session. The client signs, pays, and then… waits. A welcome email arrives three days later. The intake form is a Google Doc they can't edit. The portal login is buried in a thread. By the time you meet, they're already wondering if they made the right choice.
Run this audit: sign up for your own service using a personal email. Time how long it takes from payment to the first meaningful touchpoint. Note every manual step you take behind the scenes. If the total is more than 10 minutes of your time or more than 1 hour of their waiting, you have a fixable problem.
The fix isn't a new platform. It's usually three things: an instant welcome email with a clear next step, a single link to a client hub with everything they need, and an automated calendar booking that respects your availability. We've seen coaches cut onboarding from 48 hours to 12 minutes with just those three changes.
Do the audit this week. You'll likely find that your clients are more patient than your systems deserve — but they won't be forever.
